I don't like beaches. Too much sand. It gets everywhere and then you trod it all over the carpet-- and everyone underestimates the ocean. It's a bloody deathtrap. Currents and riptides and jellyfish and God knows what else. You don't even want to know how polluted it is, especially around the city. Why would you want that water next to your skin? All that in and out of the water makes me ill to look at it.

[that was a loaded question. And one he really didn't have an answer for. Or at least not an answer he wanted to expand on or have a painfully contrived polite conversation where the kid had to pretend to have a modicum of interest. Better really to make it simple]
