poor decisions this way come
[posted to the network late-late-night/in the wee hours of the morning, during that ungodly gray graveyard time stalked by gamers, drunks, lurking demons, and insomniacs. Obviously, of course to anyone who has ever talked to him, Mr. Fell is not of the first category. At least not of the "technological" sort of game. Maybe a hand of poker or two.]
I think, given how we are all caught up in the abrupt and fantastical nature of the situation we find outselves in--in the research and the understanding and the revelations--I believe, at least, that we should perhaps pause to reflect that:
Regardless of what these visions may mean, or may entail,--regardless of what they may emply (and if they are even at ALL credible)--right now they need no bearing on our lives. Well, that isn't to say we cannot take comfort in knowing there are others experiencing the same phenomna phenomina experie THING, but our pasts are not our present, even if they
have hitherto been unknown to us. Pasts may shape us, of course, yes may help inform our character and way of life, but they do not define us. No, we are beings of the present, adaptive and ever-evolving! And however fascinating these other existences may be, they do not need to overwhelm us.
We should focus on understanding the now, and better understanding our position in all this Stuff. I think.

I guess the whole situation does seem like something out of a movie or a cartoon. It always seems that characters are ready to drop everything for saving the day.

But I suspect it's the latter. Sooner or later, it seems like whatever it is is rather forced upon you, whether you like it or not.
Especially if there is conflict, fence-sitting is rarely ever an option.

I guess that’s not really all that different from how life is now. You don’t get choices as a kid; you’re just told what to do and are expected to do it. Which is why I don’t do things I’m told for as long as I can before it turns into real trouble.

I find doing something undesirable sooner rather than later does, at least, usually allow me the wiggle room to do it more to my preferences than to those of the one making the demands. As someone who studied law, there are almost always loopholes. And failing that, I've occasionally done as told, *exactly* as told to do it, to the letter of the law.
Not that I'm endorsing this. At all.
I feel like I'll regret this later.

I guess I get what you mean, though. Still, if I can put off stuff, I'd rather ignore it. People have always tried to act like they know what's good for me, but that's way too presumptuous of them. I'm almost an adult and I hate that, but I would rather have my freedom than constantly have adults on my back acting like they can control me.
