Has anyone received something dangerous?

I woke up this morning and on my nightstand was, in science fiction terms, a phaser.

You have a house and a yard big enough to do have yardwork to do. Fire it at a tree or something.

Tell me about the things you received.

Just what I said. My lightsaber showed up, and I got some new memories. Mostly from when I was really young. A little hint of some of the empathy from the memories.

Do you remember anything that would make you having some kind of weapon make sense?

Empathy? As in a mental power?

Perhaps it's because in my memories a despot took over the galaxy?

Yes.

That could well be. Do you remember that specific weapon?

How does it manifest?

Oddly, I do. I feel like this was a personal weapon made just for me. I don't know how I know that. But I recognize it. And others in my memories carry this same model. But I think this one was altered for me.

Faintly for now, at least in comparison to memories, but it's perception of other people's emotions.

That's worrying.

Is it something you can control?

It should be. Logically, I'm concerned. But in my memories, it's doesn't feel like something that concerns me.

And now I am concerned that I have two different feelings about it.

Maybe. I'm experimenting.

Who you were and who you are don't have to be the same. What you felt then does not negate what you feel now.

And do you have somewhere you can lock it up at home?

I'm sorry if this offends, but I'm a therapist and I wouldn't want that ability.

I do not have a place to lock it up. I've never owned or used a weapon in my this life. I supposed I'll have to order a safe.

I'm not offended. [ But he'll manage it and be fine. It's fine.]

Bring it over here until that safe gets there.

I hope it's something that doesn't cause you harm.

My daughter is spending the night with a friend. Can I bring it by tonight?

[ And at seven o'clock he's even had time to get home, eat something, and change into a pair of loose (plaid) pajama bottoms and a black t-shirt. ]

[Bail was anxious all day, keeping that weapon locked in his room until his daughter left for her friend's home for the night. He told her he needed to run an errand, so she'd know he was out, but that he'd have his cell phone with him if she needed him. He even wondered if she heard any of that as she ran out the door with her backpack.

When he showed up at Ben's, he was carrying the weapon in a tool box because it seemed like the safest way to transport it.

Seems like I over dressed. [He said as an apology for his button up shirt and slacks.]

You're fine, I just didn't want to stay in work out clothes, and putting on an entirely different outfit seemed.... wasteful.
