So...who else is saving up for a chance to fly into space some day...I know I am. 

It might be weird but I've always felt like I've wanted to see the stars.

I know what you mean...it's nice to dream though.

It is. I guess I'll just stick to laying out on the roof of my building and pretending I'm among the stars.

You do that too huh? I feel like I should have outgrown something like that, but Sometimes when life is a bit too much I just...need to look up and know there is more out there.

Why should you outgrow it? People of any age are allowed to enjoy the stars. Maybe we can sit and watch them together some time!

I'd like that.....I always liked looking for the constellations with my sisters.

We will definitely do it! I only know a couple of the constellations, so you can point out the rest of them for me.

I'd love to do that. Maybe there is something you could teach me too.

Probably not about the stars but I'm sure there is something else I can teach you as repayment.

Do you know any languages? I'm always looking to learn a new one. I'm learning Greek right now.

Some really basic Chinese that probably isn't worth sharing.

I don't know any so I would still consider it a fair trade.

Yeah...that's a thing, too. I've been away for a little while and it seems like a lot of people have been getting new memories while I was gone. I wonder what that means for me.

Just had the one so far. I'm in a space suit, but it's mechanical body armor, like something out of sci-fi. And I am talking to an AI that lives in my head. Like, I could talk to him out loud but I could also talk to him not out loud.

I've only had one too...I'm also in space I think and I'm about to go off somewhere and I'm saying goodbye to two people a woman named Rose and a man...I call him the Doctor...I'm sad to be leaving and I kiss them.

That's probably the same thing I would have done. Did you get the feeling that you'd known them for a long time? Because I definitely had the sense that I'd had that AI for not a long time.

I felt like they were my everything...and that I wasn't going to ever see them again once I turned around and left. It hurt...it hurt so much.

That sounds awful. Did either of them look familiar, like they were someone you know in your real life?

Yes actually....the woman looked like my sister....had her name too. Rose.

[Jack says the name with reverence.]

It was...I kissed both the man and that Rose...like it was no big deal.

Hm. Interesting. I mean, I can get down with that not being a big deal. Just not the sister part.

I got a whole bunch of memories of being in space. So far, not all that appealing in reality. That's subject to change.

I don't think I will either but man is it nice to dream.

Eh, dreaming is over rated these days.

But it keeps us thinking.

Your memories don't repeat over and over again in your dreams, do they?

[captainspain]

My one memory does....but then kissing two people in one moment might tend to do that I guess.

Do you think it will become safe enough in our lifetime?

I think so. Just look at what we've managed to do so far. Smart phones, video chats, computers. I don't see any reason why we could make it so everyone can go to the stars.

A cell phone is a far cry from being able to purchase a couple hundred million dollar ticket on a rocket, don't you think?

Dreams are important....there is someone out there who will see the problems and figure out how to fix them.
