I'll admit it, I screamed when I saw this-

[Camera pans to land on a dagger. Then the camera comes back to Bitterblue.]

I was hoping for a dress or one of the very interesting looking hand scribed books I see everywhere in my memories- a book from another world would be fantastic.

I was not hoping for a- a weapon! [A weapon she's pretty sure she saw her memory-mother use to kill someone - necessary for their survival, sure. But still! She's sure if they tested the blade in a forensic lab someone's trace DNA might be found on it.]

I wonder if there's a formula to this or if it's all random?

It does seem pretty random and unexpected. I'd almost be afraid of jinxing it now. It feels like if we concentrated on a book, we'd probably get another weapon or something.

But basically, I'll try willing for a specific thing from my memories. And you don't.

And then we compare what we get, see if wishful thinking actually works. If magic is real, maybe wishing on a star is now real, too?

Damn right I have, I need to go get another instrument stand today. I caught my name and figured I'd save the step. So am I on team "wish for specific stuff" or "actively wish for anything"? Or was the shooting star thing a serious suggestion?

I mean, either way's good. I don't want her school uniform, I haven't seen any other costumes, and I'm not sure what else to ask for. So I guess since I don't have anything to ask for, that's my answer?

We can all be a classic cartoon together! And also buried in stuff that kinda sorta isn't ours. If there's a musical number, though, I'm not taking the lead vocals. [She watched that movie as a little girl, she'd had quite enough of it then, even if the movie itself was fine.]

In my memories, I watched my mother kill a man with that dagger, he would have killed us otherwise.

I also think it belonged to my father who used it to torture children.

"Sweet-looking" doesn't exactly come to mind first when I see it.

Are the fortune-tellers on the television at three am still frauds or are they... Different, too?

Depends on whether they're the kind of fortune tellers that are just fishing for info, I guess. I've watched some news stuff about that. They're usually full of it.

That's... pretty scary. I'd vote for the books too. But this is what we've got, I guess. I'm certainly not going to complain about any of my stuff anymore. I'd clean out other-me's whole closet if it kept me from getting stuff like that.

As long as whoever you loan it to for testing doesn't try to keep it if there's something strange on it. Then we'd have a bunch of problems at once.

It is just a dagger and its scabbard.

It looks clean, but I wonder what would be found in the scabbard. It seems like that would harbor... particulates.

Oh, probably. Who knows when it was washed out last? Or whatever you do to that. You can't exactly get a cloth in there, and it doesn't sound like they could have poured a proper sanitizer in it or whatever. [Lisa, you are not an expert on medieval cleaning techniques. You're not even an expert on modern-day cleaning techniques.]
