How can you tell you're dating someone when your "dates" don't feel like "dates?"

Though as to your question right now, that somewhat depends on the person, and what you've been doing together. And also, can you picture yourself going on a date that does feel like a date with this person?

His name is John...John Smith...we met during one of those portal times....one of the more dangerous ones.

Since then we've been meeting for coffee...and lunch and I really like him. But I don't think he thinks we are more than friends.

Hmm... perhaps you could ask him if he'd be interested in going out to dinner and a movie or the like and see how he answers. Nothing too fancy of course, but if he's as clever as I suspect anyone you'd be interested in would be, he may well get the hint.
