[This was bullocks. This was absolute bullocks. He felt like he'd stepped into a rerun of the bloody Xfactor or whatever it was. Reincarnation, memories from another life, nonsense. Absolute rubbish. Yet he couldn't stop dreaming about it. Every night it had happened. The girl in the water, pulling her out, some agony tight in his chest-- and-- incredible loneliness. Incredible grief. More than once he'd woken up in tears and so was running on as little sleep as possible.

So when he appears on the feed, he's looking haggard and cross. He's never been much for technology. He's also wanted to avoid touching this... supernatural disaster-- but he's exhausted all other possibilities short of going to therapy and if it is connected to this-- organization, maybe someone can give him a clue]

My name is Crowley. I'm looking for a missing girl, about eleven to fourteen. Shoulder length dirty-blonde or brunette hair, wearing a locket. Heart shaped. If anyone's seen her, or knows anything about her, let me know.

Or if anyone can tell me about the Bureau. The truth about the Bureau. Not the interdimensional whatever it is. How prevalent are they? How prevalent are 'we'? Is anyone doing any sort of investigating at all?

[and while he knew it wasn't a good idea to question so openly on their own network, he needed information. And it would be interesting to see what they did with this threat, if anything.]

I've seen him. [meeting would come later] He seems interested in you for some reason.

[the coffee is finished so he sets it aside]

Does he know you have a girlfriend?

[ Didn't he wish he had a cup of coffee to get lost in? Actually! Anthony waved the girl over and ordered a 'to go' black. Even if the coffee was bad it would be a distraction when he needed one. ]

I'm sure he does. It's not a secret.

[ He couldn't recall the precise moment he had mentioned Grace's name but he had to of, right? One doesn't just forget they have a girlfriend! ]

We're just friends. We met at one of those meetings.

[ Also conveniently leaving out having a second memory that involved asking the guy out to lunch. Probably didn't mean a thing. ]

I'd make sure of that if I were you. [he's just saying]

I'm surprised you went to a meeting. Doesn't seem like your style.

[asking him out to eat seemed to run in their family for some reason]

[ He meanwhile didn't see the problem. ]

I went to one meeting. It wasn't my style though so I left pretty soon after that.

[ After accidentally trashing the snack table. Things happened. ]

You don't worry enough. [he'll tell him if Anthony won't. It's not his business but now he supposes it is. Always was ever since they were little]

Haven't been in contact with anyone since then?

Nah!

[ Lies. He had spoken to some kid over text and taken Mr. Fell out for crepes. But he now had a cup of coffee to un-suspiciously drink! ]

I might end up going back to one of those meetings though.

[ To meet Mr. Fell's friends. They had a meet up scheduled again. ]

Just poke around, see if I can find out anything.

[He eyed his cousin suspiciously, but then let it go. Whatever he might be hiding would blow up in their faces like it always did.]

I might go too. It will be bloody awful with the both of us there at one time. [a wince] Which is probably why we should, at least once. Just to let people know we're not the same ruddy person.

[he rubs his stomach again at the thought]

Fell called me Anthony... We don't even have the same style for fuck's sake and yet it always happens.

Did you try filing a police report for the girl? And is there anything else about her? She sounds like half the school aged kids around my neighborhood...

[Going to need a lot more details. Could be anyone.]

Don't know much about the Bureau. Just that they're weird and bad at naming things.

[he hasn't. There's too much to explain. They'll want to know who she was, how he knew her, why he was asking. He could look at himself in the mirror and know he was suspicious and he wasn't about to tell them it was because it was some bloody dream]

They wouldn't understand. [and now he sounds like Anthony. But at least this is slightly less stupid than the snake in the garden of Eden because this is real]

[...And that answer was not helpful at all. But he had to assume that this... child? Was involved somehow with the "Different". He was absolutely disgusted they drew a child into this mind game, but tried not to show it]

How long have you known of them? And what do you mean by weird? Have they done anything? Said anything? Has anyone disappeared or come back different?

[ Anthony leveled this most innocent of innocent looks at his cousin. Not hiding a thing, there's no one behind the curtain, I don't know why you are looking at me like that. ]

UGH... Do we have to? I mean, people will figure it out eventually.

[ That could be dangerous though. What if some one decided to say too much? ]

[that's always been bullocks and they both know it.]

The sooner we do it, the sooner it will be over.

[he wants to tell him to stay away from Fell, but knows that will only drive him toward the man. He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose before rubbing a hand over his face and leaning forward. He didn't look at Anthony as he said]

I know you don't want me here and I know you're capable of making your own decisions. I'm not trying to upset your life or control it in any way. I'll even lie if I have to to keep Aunt Evelyn off your back. Just... don't shut me out, alright? Let me just-- do this. For one year. Maybe a little over. By next June I'll be out of your hair, I promise. Can we agree to that?

You've changed your tune.

[ And it was sort of suspicious how quickly that had happened but... it did sound like a promising offer. Anything to keep mom happy and off his back. ]

One year.

[ He held out his hand in a 'shake on it' gesture. It was either that or pinky swear!]

[he'd rather Anthony be open with him in as much as he was capable rather than tracking him down twenty-four seven. He felt the smallest twinge of disappointment as well, as if some small part of him was hoping that Anthony would want him to stay. But that was ridiculous as they'd never got on and this was the last thing he wanted.

He shook his hand because they weren't children any more. It wasn't the most satisfying ending to all of it but he knew that Anthony would want to be rid of him and he had to grade some essays that he didn't want to read and the kids didn't want to write.]

See you, then. [without preamble he went and paid for both of their coffees and would be out the door unless his cousin wanted to stop him]

[ Anthony stayed where he was, just sipping his coffee and watching as his cousin fled. It was fine like this. It hadn't been the most stunning of reunions but they hadn't punched each other out so... baby steps. They had a deal and hopefully that would keep both of them out of trouble.

He waved though, as Alec hit the door. It might not have been seen giving the speed of his retreat but 'see ya' was still thought. ]

I'll keep an eye out for your missing girl. Doesn't sound like anyone I know - or anyone I knew - but better to have more people looking, yeah?

I don't know if we'll have answers to your questions. There aren't enough of us to get any serious research done. We're trying, but I'm having enough problems as it is.

[she doesn't look like her at all, but looks similar-- or at least something about the way she looks drags at him painfully as if there is some deep wound in him that he ignores.

He nods at her offer to help. Accepting it. Wondering whether to say thanks or not. Wondering if it's even fair to ask others to look after a dream girl.A dead girl. But he has to know.]

Problems? With what? I'll do what I can to help.

Nothing I can ask you to help with, I don't think. Equal parts issues with my visions and feeling totally out of my depth with certain things that've happened lately. I appreciate it, though!

[Don't ask, don't ask... Not that she's entirely uncomfortable with them, it just sucks to talk about again. Sucks to think about again... okay, no, she's uncomfortable, and just hiding it well.]

[he doesn't ask] They're rough, aren't they. [haunting even]

I hope you have someone you can count on. I hope you're not alone. [she seemed to young to have to go through this sort of thing by herself-- but he knew that he didn't have the tools to help her. He could barely get his own flock of kids through a reading of Shakespeare or To Kill a Mockingbird.]

And if you need-- That is-- If there's anything-- [he stopped. He was a man she had never met and didn't know if she could trust and she'd be right in thinking that] Never mind. Thank you for talking to me.

Well... not in the usual sense. They just make me feel kinda inadequate. Like I'm missing something. But yeah, I've got a support network, more or less. Uh, I'm always taking applications, though! Candidates must speak a language and not be judgmental all the time. [Lisa smiles sunnily. Then he acts like he's going to sign off and she panics a bit, reaching for the camera]

Hey, wait- don't go! It's okay, seriously.

[he remains because she panics a little which makes him panic a little and his heart literally skips a beat. He takes a deep breath but softly so she wouldn't notice and offered a wry smile]

I speak English and that's all. Well, some Latin and a bit of French but not so much that it does any one any good. But as for the latter, not so much me at all. [he was always judging something. There was a complete inability in him to take anything at face value]

Don't let them make you feel inadequate though. Whatever you are is what you are. These are just... [he looks away, searching for the words] ancillary-- whatever they are. Dreams. Nightmares. [false memories] They don't change who you are now or make you any less.

Inadequate might not be the perfect word? Jealous is probably closer. Other me had friends better at what I do than I am and I'm mad about it. I'm getting there, though. So I'm... okay. I just keep getting blindsided. Two weeks ago didn't help. If we ever get a chance to figure that one out, yeah, that's research I want to fast track.

A few months now. I was part of what I call the first wave of Different. They haven't done much. Made an announcement that didn't really explain anything. And so far... all of us Different have been here what seems like our entire lives. I don't know if that's true, but I remember growing up in this world.

[he's not sure how to react to that other than a faint smile. It's charming, though he has a feeling he'll find some way to cock it up he normally does with interactions.] Me either, but it was either learn declensions or get a smack with a ruler. Never got a bloody knuckle, but a lot of sleepless nights.

[he'd meant it to be a funny anecdote but out loud it sounded horrible.

He listened intently to what she was saying, wondering what she was meaning behind it. All it did was make him want to help and figure this out all the more]

What is it you do that they're better at? [he didn't understand that] I still don't think this is real. Or, there's something more to it. Something twisted. Something hidden. I don't like it. And I definitely don't like those ba-- people knowing more than I do about my own head. Or saying they do anyway.

[of course they weren't bloody here then. Why would they be? But he's not going to go off on a child. Not his fault he believes stupid things. Most children do. Anything below twenty is a child and even then after it]

It's true. This is our basis of reality. We have to assume so because anything else, however much we may wish it, can't be possible. Whatever's going on, whatever fantasies are appearing either from our own minds or manufactured, that's all they are.

Oof. Yeah, that's a very strong "get good". But hey, it got the job done, for better or worse. [She mostly keeps a smile, though it dims a bit at the idea of physical punishment for messing up. She'd probably be wearing a lot more concealer if that were her...]

Ah, I'm a guitarist. Singer-songwriter, except I'm terrible at writing lyrics and not much better with scores. Other me was in a band. She played bass, their guitarist is quite good, and their vocalist is fantastic. I am... less good than them, and it's frustrating. But I'll get there. Or hey, maybe I'll take up the bass. One or the other.

[The frustration at the Bureau and their situation, though, she completely understands, and her expression turned a bit stormier.]

I have a hard time believing what we're seeing is fake - I'm invested, for one, but I've just seen too much strange stuff already. And I don't like the Bureau either. They don't seem to be too torn up over that, either. I want answers, and I want them to make sense. I'd like to be able to find them myself rather than getting them from the Bureau, but I'll take what I can get, I suppose.
