I find myself researching how to make realistic looking fake blood and offal, and accompanying rotting flesh make-up for my daughter's Halloween costume because she wants to be a Zombie Fairy.

Does anyone have any tips for pulling this off?

Yes, I see the practical use of red jello.

But why milk? Won't that spoil?

Oh, well, eventually, but I figured for a temporary use, it would thicken the jello just right to look like blood and gore.

You planning on this being a more permanent kind of thing?

That is a good point. For the make up, which would be temporary, that would work.

But I don't want to put anything on the costume that would make it unusable in the long run.

i'm inventing this all in my head and i think they're good ideas!!

Ah...well, maybe some kind of vinyl or plastic cutout? That could work. Just melt it a bit and warp it for the gory parts.

This all sounds right to me!

Hairdryer. Or a heat gun, which is really just a hair dryer on steroids.

Then how do you know vinyl will work?

It's completely theoretical, sorry to say.
