Video, late 10/16
[the feed comes on and it's shaking. why? because Ellie is holding her mobile in very shaky hands and she wanted to do this over the network rather than chance waking or disturbing her family. if they do see this they're welcome to come find her, but she wouldn't dare inconvenience a soul, not even at a time like this. she's white as a sheet and breathless]
Oh my God.
Ohhhhhhhh my God, I can't handle this.
[she presses a shaking hand to her lips and looks around what is most certainly the living room of Crowley's posh flat, for anyone who's seen it before]
I fell asleep watching telly and it was some medical drama, and suddenly it was me on there, as the DS - er, detective, isn't that what you call them? - and there was this EMT. Really handsome. Asked me for a coffee. And I realized I was havin' one of the memories, you know, a new one?
Only ... only ...
[she stops again, pressing her whole hand flat against her mouth this time, as though it'll keep the horror in. as though not saying it will make it go away. a tear slips down her cheek]
... alright, listen, how many've you believe in ghosts?

No way, not in this flat... I paid extra for it to be ghost-free!
[ Tears looked so unnatural on Ellie's cheeks that they drove any teasing from the remark once he saw her face. ]
That must have been some sad movie?

I made him up, Anthony. Groundskeeper Joe. I told you I did, once all that was said and done. It was just supposed to be a laugh.
[she hiccoughs, choking on her own panic for a moment]
But I just had a mem'ry of him and me. Clear as day... that other life!

But the first memory in which he had actually recognized some one had been vastly different. He had been calm afterward, almost at peace like he had found something he had been missing for a very long time... Of course it had been Fell and he had been inviting the guy out to dinner so it hadn't exactly been a nightmare.
His pickle was tossed into the nearest bin as he entered the room and in newfound grimness he sat next to El on the arm of her chair. ]
There's nothing to say it can't happen like that. You were probably already on the verge of having that memory when we took off. Who knows... maybe you had already dreamt about the guy and forgotten it. We might not immediately remember everything we've dreamed of.
Was it a bad memory?

No. ... No, it was ... it felt so ... everyday. He asked me round for a pint after we got off work. Only, my work was police and he was an emergency medic, and we were chattin' it up over someone on a stretcher. Bit weird, but ... not bad.

Maybe he was your guy. That's the way it happened with Aziraphale and me, only I was chatting him up over a set of stairs for a crepe date and potentially plotting a murder...
[ Totally normal! ]
Have you seen that guy around town anywhere? Maybe even as one of the Different?

[she raises her eyebrows, but makes no other comment. she knows he's already got enough, coping with this whole demon thing. and she can't judge by way of murders ... after all, being a detective, who knows what she may have had to do in the name of duty but can't remember yet?]
I haven't - but believe me, starting now I'll be looking. He was well fit, too: bald, but gorgeous eyes.

[ Or maybe people would have heard about crepe date murder plottings... They can't have been the only ones to ever do that! ]
He has to be out there some where. I hope you find him, El.

[it's how they get by - horrible jokes and dry humor. family tradition and all]
... Thanks, sweetheart. How're you doing? Didn't think you'd still be up at this hour.

That's the only thing that makes sense to me, anyway.

[a pause, as she realizes -]
When we met at the gallery ... I didn't realize you were one of us - the Different, I mean. But then I guess none of us are exactly advertising it, are we?

[ Other than making contact here on the network, he means. ]

I'm not that good at sneaky, either. I just think if it was something too obvious we'd get questions from other people.
