I woke up one morning a few weeks ago with a new arm. Just there, attached to my body.

Most of it is metal and cybernetics but the part where it connects to my actual body is weird and kinda biomechanical.

I really am a cyborg now.

Pardon me for having a doctor's reaction first, but that's absolutely fascinating. [he wonders what the bloodstream does at the connection site, how it's rerouted, then realizes it's probably just like any other amputation site. dur. even something flashy, futuristic, and biomechanical wouldn't need blood to run on. his imagination ran away with him]

That must have been quite a shock to wake up to. ... Is it heavy?

Ha. Totally triggered a PTSD episode and I accidentally telekentically broke about ten panes of glass in the window over my bed.

You know, totally normal reaction.

So yup, very fascinating.

That's .... whew. I can see how something like that would make trauma even more stressful, absolutely. .... I'm sorry, that ... that sounds difficult as hell, to put it poorly.

Normally the moving things with my mind isn't that bad. It's know what everyone around me is feeling that is obnoxious as hell.

There's an empathic component? ... Goodness. Is it something you might be able to medicate to downplay the effects? At least, perhaps, at work so it doesn't affect you there?

Now that I think about it, the stuff I take at night to prevent night terrors does dampen the sense a bit. But that stuff makes me sleep so I don't think it will actually help with this.
