Okay so at this point I can kind of accept the memories..I even kind of understand getting back powers. But..this..
[He holds up a sleek black flute with a red tassel dangling from the end of it.]
I don't even know how to play the flute and don't really have a whole lot of interest in learning. Does anyone know if I'll just magically wake up some day with an ability to play or should I just put this up on my shelf as some sort of decoration?
[He sets it back down and then picks up a piece of paper that is a few inches wide and about eight inches long with red designs scrolled across it.]
Also, anyone know what this is because I've been drawing them all morning and have a stack of various ones now that I'm afraid to touch in case I light the place on fire by accident. I just moved in here so I'd rather not mess it up. I'm really not mentally prepared to start having magic abilities..
[Is he stressed out? He might be slightly stressed..he's had far too many memories hitting him lately and now with the addition of these magic paper pieces and a flute he is starting to panic that the whole controlling ghosts things is in his very near future.]

Definitely feels hot..
[And the piece of wood does start to burn.]
Oh its real.
[He drops the wood into the fire and steps back again.]
no subject
Yeah, it's real enough.
[ He stepped back away from the flames, flexing his fingers as they cooled. ]
Try that barrier spell on it? Maybe you could actually snuff a flame with something like that.
no subject
I have a feeling this one is capable of a few things.
[It doesn't completely snuff out the fire though and instead seems to burn away before it can, disappearing from his fingers.]
Do you think I'm the one doing it..or is there just something with the symbol I drew?
no subject
[ Standing there watching he could think of at least twenty good uses right then, the best of which had the pair of them pranking New York by setting up invisible walls for people to bounce off of! Imagine the chaos! ]
I'd say it's a combination. I don't think those papers would be anything be decorative if I tried to use them, but I don't think they would work for you if they were only blank slips of paper. It's like in these magic books I've been reading.
[ Yes, he admits to reading but it just slipped out... It's not something he would own under normal circumstances. ]
In order to use some spells you need a magic symbol to channel the power.
no subject
Why are you reading magic books?
[He walks over to a window and tosses one of the barrier papers at it, watching as it immediately sticks to it.]
no subject
[ Anthony tried to recall if that window had glass on it before or if it had been one of the broken ones. ]
And there's Fell. He was talking about these magic circles and trying to summon something. Which reminds, you haven't tried that last one.
no subject
What does he want to summon?
[He walks back over and picks up the summoning talisman. He fears this one a little more then the others..]
What do we do if this summons something really nasty?
no subject
[ Him. Anthony's hands landed at his sides, casually at the ready for whatever might pop out of this last magical object. ]
You have a barrier spell, fire, and a demon, we'll come up with something.
no subject
Wei Wuxian takes several steps back until he is behind Anthony. Not at all confident that some sort of fire paper is going to work against a ghost.
The black figure swirls around them and darts around the room as if looking for something. It doesn't appear to want to harm them as it never gets any closer but finally finds a discarded piece of clothing that it dives into, making it rise up and fill out.]
It really summoned a ghost...
[Suddenly his hands go up and cover his ears, his head starting to ache as the voices start to speak to him again.]
no subject
Instead since it had circled them and done nothing but get dressed all this felt oddly normal. ]
Is it trying to say something to you?
[ He grew quiet and listened as hard as he could but the only thing he heard were the typical noises of the New York streets. ]
I can't hear a thing. Oi, you over there!
[ Maybe with a raised voice the ghost could hear him. ]
Try whispering! It's his first time summoning a ghost. Must be overwhelming.
no subject
[There is apparently a lot of dead around this place. That is when it seems to hurt the most. But the pain starts to ebb away as Anthony tries to talk to the ghost.]
I don't need to whisper! He called me here and is afraid of me? What kinda crap is this.
[It's a male voice with a pretty evident Brooklyn accent.]
I didn't mean to call you..we were just experimenting. You are free to go.
Free to go? You guys are the first people to hear me in years. Why would I go?
[He looks over at Anthony, unsure what he is supposed to do this this guy.]
no subject
[ A look towards Wei, semi-worried glances exchanged. ]
Don't you have ghost things to do? Maybe we are meant to ask you about your unfinished business? You... see a light anywhere?
[ A beat. ]
Or maybe some kind of glowing fiery entrance?
no subject
[Wei Wuxian starts looking through the talismans for anything that seems like a release spell or vanish..or anything that might send this guy on his way.]
Unfinished business? Yeahhh..You wanna hear about that. I'll share it with you.
[Suddenly Wei Wuxian's eyes widen and he almost drops the talismans. The man's voice fills his head and without even hesitating he finds exactly what he needs and sends another talisman towards the ghost. There is a scream and the black smoke disappears. Wei Wuxian stands there looking completely traumatized as he breathes heavily.]
He was a monster...a killer..
no subject
Up until the point where Wei had suddenly sprung into action the ghost had seemed otherworldly but not necessarily evil. It had been the suggestion of unfinished business which brought those nagging malevolent undertones and the way that spirit person had looked his way... ]
Ye--yeah, figures really. Anyone dead guy who would rather hang around New York instead of passing on would have to be evil.
You alright?
no subject
[He isn't sure he is the right person to have these necromancy style powers. He's starting to pace and while doing so has put up barriers all around the room to keep any more of those crappy ghosts from showing up.]
I'm not sure I can handle this.
no subject
[ His booted toe kicked at the now limp stack of old rags. ]
I felt he wasn't on the side of the angels but... never expected him to want to run around Micheal Meyers style.
[ Anthony was concerned but allowed Wei to dash around putting up his barriers without any sort of interference from him. ]
I think you did alright. You managed to summon a ghost and get rid of him again when he turned out to be a bastard. You think they will all be like that one? Only the evil spirits stay behind on Earth?
no subject
[He finally stops pacing and stares at the pile of clothing as well.]
I can't imagine every spirit in New York is evil..but with how many people die here each day, who knows how it all gets sorted out and what ones have to stick around. If the voices in my head are any indication..just this place has about a dozen hiding around.

He hadn't even been creeped out by the killer ghost. A touch worried maybe, but not like a normal human ought to have been. He ought to have been terrified, shaken down to the very core that there was a murderous serial killer ghost reading his friend to pick up where he had left off. That he hadn't been... what did that say about him?
And there was poor Wei, looking to him for some kind of support! What he needed was an angel not a bloody demon! ]
Look he can't do anything without a body. Right? As a ghost he is just smoke and bad memories... He can't hurt you or anyone else.
no subject
[Why did he have to be the one with the creepy ghost powers? He never even really believed in such things and yet now he not only believes but can talk to and apparently control them. And this is only scratching the surface of what he can do. He doesn't want to think he was an evil person in his previous life but now he wonders. he clearly saw himself harming people in those dreams.]
no subject
[ The faint nagging sensation at the back of his mind made him feel like he ought to be encouraging this. Go on, dabble in the occult, whats the worse that could happen?? But the other and more powerful voice replied, yeah but he might actually do it and wouldn't it suck if Wei had his mind taken over by a murderous psycho ghost... ]
Maybe leave off the summoning things for a while... Work with the fire and the barrier spells until you get them perfected. They might help you keep these spirits in check.
no subject
[He tears up the summoning ones immediately. If he really needs them they can always be remade. For now he will do as Anthony suggests and focus on the others. If he decides to pursue this at all. He's just worried that if he doesn't, the Bureau might try to do something to force him. He doesn't trust that they aren't behind these powers showing up.]
At least I can say that writing these is a lot less frustrating then the voices in my head.
[He has at least figured out how to quiet those so they aren't talking constantly. But all of these abilities are really exhausting, especially considering how many more he has seen in his memories.]
no subject
[ At least not one he had ever heard of. ]
And even if it were you could break it, if that's what you want. I don't think anyone is going to come at you sirens blaring and demand to know why you aren't playing with your army of fire wielding ghosts.
[ As it stood right now the Bureau seemed to him more like a paper tiger than a real threat. Sure they showed up and gloomed at people enough that he had decided to keep his distance from them,
and give those that hadn't made the same choice a healthy dose of shit over it, but they hadn't actually done anything more than keep things hushed up in typical Government fashion. ]Pretending your powers don't exist might be a problem if they keep growing. I think I keep using mine without thinking about it... Things just happen. It's why I thought you might do better to work with the two less 'evil summoning' powers.
[ Wei was circled while being given a careful looking over. He looked shaken and he certainly had ever right to be. Who could ever have predicted that the very first ghost he tried to summon was going to be such an evil one! ]
You alright?
no subject
I'll be okay. You are right..I will work with the other ones and see what I can do with it. And maybe if I can get stronger with those then the summoning one might not be so rough. Who knows...maybe I'm going to need that one in the future depending on what else I end up with.
no subject
If its any consolation... I think you handled that really well.
no subject
Thanks. Sorry for making you deal with my slight freak out.
[Ever since the memories started and now the powers..he feels like he is losing some part of himself. He doesn't want to become the guy in his memories but he wonders if that is inevitable.]
