[Bitterblue looks a bit excited when the video starts. She's holding a dark, leather bound book, it's thin, but thick enough that the gold lettering on the spin can be seen.]

It worked this time. I hoped for a book from my memories and I got one.

I didn't think about this before I discovered it on my table, but of course I should have realized this: it's in a different language. I understand it because I did in my memories.

[This is where she looks really excited.]

A whole new language! See-

[She holds up the book and opens to a page. There is a hand painted picture of a castle on it with a word underneath - but not a word recognizable. She flips through other pages showing pictures with singular words underneath. All words that are not readable.]

This is much better than a dagger!

You think you actually willed a book from your memories into existence?

[ He scoffed, smiling a little at the absurdity of it, but... wasn't it a fascinating idea? ]

How'd that work exactly? You went to sleep thinking about it or was there was some kind of spell?

No, not really. It was a silly hypothesis I shared with Elliott and Lisa.

Lisa is wishing on a star to see if that will make the next item she gets. We don't really think this is how it works.

And yet there's the book. Its an amazing coincidence.

[Lisa is floored. That actually worked? It's anecdotal evidence, and yet...]

That's really cool! I mean, the way you got it too, but! You could teach yourself something that nobody else in this world knows! I'm really excited for you, and, well, only a little jealous?

[Yeah, she's got her music, but. This isn't the same?]

Eeeeehhh, I'm not really a big book guy. Besides you said it was in another language? I only know the one. I wouldn't be able to read it.

It is a picture book meant to teach children words.

It is unsettling because some of the pictures... [she flips to one- a beautiful painting of a knife with a singular word under it.]

This word- it says 'medicine'. Why would you teach a child that a knife is medicine?

And before you ask about blood letting, that is simply not how medicine works in my memories. I seem to live in a castle, but they have a rather modern understanding of medicine.

[ He likewise lifted his shades and squinted at the screen as if this would actually allow him to see the pictures better. ]

Could be a ceremonial knife Doctors carry around with them... if they do things like that. What do you think it means, blood sacrifice?

Well, it'd be cool to see it too, but even knowing it's out there is pretty wild. But... I think it's just a perception thing? It feels really selfish when I lay it out in my head, but, well. You have a thing, and it's really different from everyone else's things, and that's kinda cool.

...If just wanting something doesn't pan out, I'm gonna try your way next.

Oh, wow. A whole new language only you can read? That is really, really cool. I can't believe that worked!

I do not know if we can call it a success. It worked one time so far. We need to try more.

Your guitar is unique, too. Every instrument, though made in the same manner as others of its kind, is unique. Yours more so because it is from another universe. No one will ever have anything close to similar to it.

I suspect the book is authored and illustrated by my memory-father. Who we have discussed before as being a sadistic, horrible person.

I didn't wish for this book specifically. Just a book from my memories.

Some of the pictures are depictions of the place I lived. There's a general map of the continent. As much as was known of it.

Is the language complicated? I don't think so, but these are just straight forward concepts. Castle. City. Graceling. Monarchy.

I don't know how helpful... [Oh she is thinking of something that she can't say on the network.]

[ He leaned a little closer to the screen. ]

[Lisa blinks.] I know... most of those words. And if you don't mind, I'd enjoy seeing something like that? If there's time.

[Bitterblue flips through the book until she gets to the maps. She shows the first one that details the continent.*]

See, not like Italy at all.

Huh. Its an oddly squared-off sort of peninsula isn't it? Never seen anything like that. Very otherworldly.

Maybe. You might even remember having been to some of those places. There's bound to have been famous old buildings or landmarks you have actually seen.

My memory father messes with my head so much, I do not know if I will remember visiting, if I do.

Most of the memories I get are hazy. Some are clear. The ones I have away from my father are the clearest. Now that I have more of them, it is easy to see that.

You are away from him now. Maybe that means more will come back to you.

[Once she has an address, it's not long before she makes her way over, traveling fairly lightly - no guitar, no backpack. Boy, it's nice not to have classes.]

It's not a problem. [Bitterblue waves Lisa into her small apartment. It's one bedroom, the kitchen and the living room blend together. And there's nothing flashy about the decorations. Mostly neutral tones.]

So, you want to see the book.

[It was right there on the counter and Bitterblue only had to take a few steps to get it. She promptly handed it over to Lisa. None of the words are in English, but Bitterblue is here willing to translate.]

[Not that Lisa can say anything - Lisa doesn't exactly live in a swanky place, and shares it with someone else anyway. Still, it's nice enough, she's not judging.]

Mm, I'd like to see it. I've had a new appreciation for languages lately, y'know?

[She accepts it gingerly when it's offered to her; at first she just looks through the pages, trying to match the image to the word. Except boy, that really isn't in anything she could hope to read. She puzzles for a moment more, before she looks over to Bitterblue.]

You weren't kidding, huh? So I know this is probably city, but how do you say this? [There's a reason she never took more foreign language classes in school - she's probably gonna mangle this...]
