I have quite a few old scars on my back.

The problem being that they weren't there yesterday.

This is not great news.

[Understatement much? At least his freak out is staying internal. Mostly. So far.]

Bail can’t say he’s surprised that Ben went to that conclusion. And he could only answer with more honesty.

“Yes, I do.” He’s sorry for breaking the mood, but he never liked shielding reality with rose colored glasses when reality called for frankness.

“I’m sorry, I’m making this a bit too real. But, I know there will be issues, that’s the reality of age gaps. I’m not saying all of them will be serious. And none of them may actually be deal breakers. The way we address them is more important to me than that there are issues. But we won’t know that until we encounter them.”

He stayed silent for several long moments, trying to work through what exactly about this was making him... wary. He realized pretty quickly he was not going to come to be able to completely figure it out tonight..

"I don't think it's too real, I think it's too late." As in, at night, and his tone was wry and even a little amused, though there was some reserve in the humor. He switched which hand he was holding Bail's with, in preparation for rolling over and pulling that arm over him, but held off doing it so the timing wouldn't be suspicious. "But let me know when you find the issues and we'll either work through them or not."

Bail smiled, he could accept that.

"I'm sorry. When I understand it myself, I'll talk to you about it. For now we can go to sleep."

He lifted Bail's hand and kissed the inside of his wrist lightly, to accept the apology that wasn't necessary, tucked Bail's arm back around him and settled in between Bail and Elsa to sleep.

"Aye..." He rubbed a hand through his hair. "I just don't understand why. It doesn't seem to make any sense, does it? Nothing about any of this is reality and yet... it's here..." He shook his head, wishing he could make heads or tails of it. Short of documenting everything he'd no idea what to do.

"I think," he said, slowly and thoughtfully, "that we're all struggling with this in various ways. And that for some of us, concrete evidence and hard lines about what our lives and reality are, are a means of coping. And that for others, the method of coping is to accept what is, and to try to roll with the punches. And that, overall, right now, anything that gets you through a day where your mind - and apparently body - decide to betray you is probably okay."

"That's fair. I suppose the only that can be done is finding out the truth." Though that wouldn't completely fix everything, it would help. He was sure it would.

"Thanks. For the ..." he gestures at the phone. "If anything strange happens-- let me know? When you're ready. Just for evidence's sake."

"If anything new happens, you'll be the... third, probably, to know." Yeah, he took time and counted it. At least he's honest.

"Fair." He didn't take it personally. "And if I find out anything-- more or less likewise." Though not because out of anyone he trusted to know first, but he still wasn't sure how to distribute anything he did find.

"Until then keep your eyes open."
