It's only really trouble when you reach the point that your hand is forced and you no longer have choice in how you deal with the matter. Usually the initial demands one makes are unspecific in method and only concerned with results.
I find doing something undesirable sooner rather than later does, at least, usually allow me the wiggle room to do it more to my preferences than to those of the one making the demands. As someone who studied law, there are almost always loopholes. And failing that, I've occasionally done as told, *exactly* as told to do it, to the letter of the law.
